Lemon tree in a pot. Mucho agua o no mucho??

Hi everyone

Very inexperienced gardener here, living in Tarifa, Cadiz. I have a lemon tree on my terrace that isn't doing very well. I know that trees planted in the ground shouldn't be watered much, but what about those in pots? I have watered quite a lot in the past as it seems the leaves dry out if I don't. Is this correct?

Looking forward to you our help

Watering lemon tree in pot

I made a terrible mistake with watering my lemon trees (planted in the ground) as I watered around the trunk. you have to keep the water away from the trunk ( difficult in a pot) can you water from the bottom via some form of tray also look at the position regarding the sun. any fertiliser / sulfato must not touch the trunk (better to disolve in water and apply via watering can
